Talk 1: Identifying With Jesus, The Master
As we begin this series of talks at the beginning of Lent, we want to take stalk of our relationship with Jesus. To be in relationship with Jesus, the disciple has to grow to become more and more like Jesus. With the help of Luke’s Gospel we want to examine what that means for us, Christian disciples, in our daily living.
Talk 2: The Mercy and Compassion of Jesus
We are very familiar with the notion of Jesus’ mercy and compassion. Lent is a special time to experience God’s mercy and compassion. With the help of Luke’s Gospel, we want to examine what that means in concrete terms for ourselves and for our world.
Talk 3: Experiencing the Power of the Holy Spirit at Lent
Jesus was a man filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. We, Christian disciples, are also Spirit-filled. In this time of Lent we want to examine our awareness of the Holy Spirit in us and among us. With the help of Luke’s Gospel we want to examine our dependence on God’s Holy Spirit, especially in our movement to conversion through repentance.
Talk 4: The Importance of Prayer
Jesus was a man of prayer. Lent is a time of grace for us to examine our prayer life. With the help of Luke’s Gospel we want to appreciate the prayer life of Jesus and we want to discern how each of us can be a more meaningful prayerful person living in hopefully an increasingly prayerful Christian community that must carry on the mission of Jesus in the world today.
